Last year, when I first installed LiteSpeed, its webp function didn’t work. I went through their instructions and set it up properly, but it wouldn’t work. Then, after several days and after having made no other changes in my website backend, it suddenly started working.

Cut to this week. I added other jpg’s to my images folder and, for no apparent reason, it has stopped turning jpg’s into webp’s.

I’ve gone through LiteSpeed’s instructions yet again today and now see that something has changed in their instructions AND in their settings.

Their (new) instructions have a section labeled “Create WebP Versions.” (see image I’ve attached below)

However… the plugin as it exists on my wordpress backend does NOT have this section. So, I can’t choose to create a webp version.

Again, for several years, Litespeed has automatically created a webp photo automatically whenever I uploaded a jpg. It also converted all of my legacy photos into webp files.

I’ve gone through Litespeed’s settings once again and, as best I can tell, updated LiteSpeed. Nevertheless, litespeed still doesn’t offer me this new setting “Create WebP Version.” Nor does it convert new jpgs into webp.

Do you have a solution to get LiteSpeed to work and automatically turn my jpg’s (new and legacy) into webp’s?

    Thanks!!!

    Hi,

According to the doc, the Image WebP Replacement feature is the only option you need to enable after v5.3. May I know your plugin version? and I don’t see any screenshot from you, please upload it again if possible.

@eric780217: Yes, thanks. But it’s not working for me. It did work for months, but just arbitrarily stopped working. I’ve deleted and reinstalled LiteSpeed to see if that helps, but it doesn’t.

@qtwrk: Well… this system apparently doesn’t allow us to attach an image? When I paste into this screen, it never completes a population into this box. When I choose the specific “image block,” it requires a url and I don’t have a specific url to my backend a 3rd party could access. Am I missing something here? It seems that we should be able to attach or paste an image in this system.

you can upload image to somewhere like imgur.com , google drive, dropbox , or even your own wordpress site Media, then share the link.
