I have enabled webp setting, my understanding is that all new images that are uploaded and all existing images will be converted to the webp format and if the browser is capable of displaying the webp format then that will be served (unless cahced, then its upto the caching server to serve what it wants)

So using the file Manager in SG Site Tools I can see that all images in wp-content/uploads/ now also have a .webp version, but when browsing media via the wordpress dashboard (media > library) no .webp images that sg optimizer has created are displayed.

If manually upload a .webp image via wordpress > media > add new, then it does appear and If i replace an existing png image with the newly uploaded .webp image, I can refresh the page, right click on the image and confirm its a .webp image.

but all the webp images that sg optimizer has created are not being served. I have temporarly disabled and purged SG caching and cloudflare cache but still this hasnt helped.

e.g. the manually uploaded webp image is https://www.tvtronics.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/1zgemma-h9s-se.png.webp

and i have replaced this on the home page and it is being served. But all other images besides this are not in the .webp format although sg-optimizer has created .webp versions for them.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @tvtronics,

I have reviewed your website and can confirm that images have been properly converted to WebP and are also served correctly. This can be easily verified if you inspect a random image on the homepage through the browser built-in console. I am also attaching a screenshot for reference:

Note that some of the images on your site are SVG files and they will not be compressed to WebP as our plugin converts only images uploaded in JPEG, PNG or GIF format.

Please make sure to clear your local browser cache and confirm my findings on your end.

    Best regards,

Thanks for explaining how to verify this. I thought the images would be replaced with the .webp file extension
