    Hi,

I have enabled WebP copies of my existing images, and all WebP copies have been generated successfully. I’m having two questions regarding this function as below:

1): I used inspect tool of my browser and then filtered requests to Img, so only images jpg type becomes visible in the list. I was not able to find WebP type. How do I know if my WebP is working?

    2) If the browser doesn’t support the WebP format, it’ll fall back to loading the image specified by the tag ou how would that be shown? Thanks in advance.

    1. Use Chrome or other browser that supports webp. In the network tab you will still see image.jpg but the content type should be webp. If you open it with Safari, we will serve the original image since it does not support webp. Make sure that you have pressed the button to generate images for existing images too. Simply enabling the optimization will create copies only for newly uploaded ones.

    2. If the browser doesn’t support it we will fallback to the original image. NOTE: if you use a CDN they may block this functionality and serve whatever they cache first.

    Hi Hristo,

I took the following steps to check if my website is loading webp image properly

Step 1: Open my site in Chrome browser.
Step 2: Right-click on an image and choose open in new tab.

    One samples page:

Step 3: The image extension still display as jpg format, and then I checked the siteground side: wp-content -> uploads, they’ve been generated to webp format successfully.

Could you help me check why not load webp images even I ‘ve generated the webp copies of the existing images. Thanks in advance.
