Are you using a CDN, like Cloudflare or MaxCDN? The WebP rewrite rules don’t really work with CDNs, because the files are upstream from the server doing the rewriting.

Yes. I use Cloudflare. Is there a way to make it work?

With cloudflare, it might be possible, but you would have to remove the .htaccess rules, and try to replicate them with Cloudflare. I use Cloudflare as well, so I’ll take a look sometime in the next week or two and see if it is possible to do.

    Thanks.
I tried to find out how to do that, but it’s too difficult for me. So I will wait for a potential solution.

I don’t see any way to make this work with Cloudflare, and they do not currently have a way to enable this. In the coming months I will be working on an alternative way to serve the webp images, so be on the lookout for that.

Cloudflare did seem interested in the idea, and requested the rewrite rules that EWWW IO uses, so we may see something from that end in the future, but it is just in the curiosity stage at this point. Going to mark this as resolved, as this feature will be released in version 2.2. I don’t currently have a release timeframe yet.
