Webp images not woking

  • Hello,
    Every tutorial online recommends using Webp images instead of JPG or PNG.
    I can easily save or edit Webp images, but I cannot upload them on WordPress (own hosting).
    There are some tutorials to edit the settings and alter functions.php
    They dont work.
    I tried searching here for a solution, I cannot find it.
