With the ewww plugin, I can display the images in the content as webp. However, thumbnails continue to be displayed as jpg in other parts of my website.

    Hi @onurkk!

WP Offload Media Support Team here. Thanks for reaching out with your query! We would be happy to assist.

When it comes to image optimization, we recommend EWWW Image optimizer. We continuously test our product with theirs, and we’ve also written a tutorial on how to get up and running with WebP images and EWWW:

For thumbnails showing up as JPG on other parts of the site, it’s best to contact EWWW support directly.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

I installed and ran it correctly. I have about 100k images. When I say force webp, the jpegs do not appear naturally. If I don’t do this, it takes jpg, not webp in s3.

    Hi @onurkk ,

Thanks for the additional details. Not really sure if this is an Offload Media issue.

If you have a staging site, as a test, please try deactivating WP Offload Media temporarily, to see if images are served using the .webp version or not. If thumbnails are displayed as JPG when WP Offload Media is active, but webp when our plugin is deactivated, then there might be some conflict.

Still, it would be best to contact EWWW first, as we are not too familiar with how their code works, i.e. how their plugin decides when to display webp images and when not to.

Let us know if you have any other questions about WP Offload Media.
