It *could* be caused by WordPress.

These can often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your Dashboard, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Seventeen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don’t have access to your Dashboard, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

If that does not resolve the issue, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your SFTP or FTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message. Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that specific time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

Rename the .htaccess file to anything but .htaccess. I like to just remove the dot, so it’s htaccess.

That spread is too broad, those could be anything, some might even be failing silently without affecting the site. We need the error from the exact moment it’s triggered.

Triggering it is simple, just visit the site. If a 503 appears, note the date and time, and check the logs for what is recorded at that *specific* date and time. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you and report back what was recorded at that *specific* date and time.

    [Fri Jul 14 01:22:42.086135 2017] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 783114] [client 49.204.76.82:26593] AH01079: failed to make connection to backend: httpd-UDS

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Ok, that’s a sever-level problem, so you’ll need to report that back to your hosting provider.

If they try to turn you away again by blaming it on WordPress, make sure they see that error log entry. If they still try to turn you away, ask to speak to someone higher up. And, if they still try to turn you away, we have some recommended hosting providers at https://www.ads-software.com/hosting/

    Hi james

thanks for you help one more question with that error on that site would i not have problems with my other word press sites thats on same server

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Not necessarily. I recommend leaving the diagnosis to your hosting provider, as failed to make connection to backend: httpd-UDS is server-level.
