Website crash with V 2.4.3

I just updated to V 2.4.3

My CPU usage went up to 100% (php-frm took 70% of CPU & Mysql remaining 30%)

site become unresponsive

errr … surprising as changes were pretty minimal actually.

when rolling back to 2.4.2 the problem goes away?

Yeah, i’ve deleted the V 2.4.3 via ftp and uploaded 2.4.1. All fine now.
Couldn’t finde a copy of V 2.4.2 so fast.

Only thing i did was updated autoptimize and nothing else.

Website hanged to immediately.

Restarted the Server twice, but the problem remained

Finally i renamed the folder to autoptimize-1 and the problem gone away

I am pretty sure that the issue was with the new update

the following changes are in 2.4.3:
* better handling of CSS when “inline & defer” is active -> do you have that active?
* improvements to Google Font optimization (in “extra”-tab) -> do you have one of those on?
* fixing a bug in 2.4.2 which caused multiple “ao_cachechecker” cronjob being registered, this includes removing all ao_cachechecker cronjobs and re-registering one if none are found -> I *think* this is what causes the white screen/ crash, but I reviewed the code and I don’t see how/ why it would crash.

so:
* did you upgrade from 2.4.2 or from an earlier version (2.4.1 or 2.4.0)?
* can you install the wp crontrol plugin to see if you have many ao_cachechecker cronjobs registered?

This happened to me, too. Updated from 2.4.2 to 2.4.3 via WordPress updater.

Instantly, my MySQL logs filled the whole server. Even Wp-cli (I was checking “wp plugin list”) triggered this SQL queries.

Rolling back to 2.4.2 solved the issue for me.

OK, interesting. Can you check what specific SQL queries flooded your system there @ardakilic?

The logs are filled with queries same as this, please notice the ao_cachechecker appearing gazillion times.

Also, if that would matter. I’m using MariaDB and PHP7.0 currently on this instance, self-installed Ubuntu VPS which I have root access.

OK, I *think* the wp_clear_scheduled_hook in the upgrade procedure is overloading the db in your case(s). i’ll work on an alternative now and hope you can test that. if that fix works for you I’ll push out an update.

OK, attempt at fix committed on GitHub, could you please download the zipfile, install and activate (deactivate 2.4.2 first) and test if this does work?

When I just updated the plugin, my web site crashed too.

can you try installing the github zipfile instead @xkurts, that should work.

@the-dude-1, @chandranath, @ardakilic could you test if that github version indeed fixes the issue?
