Website Down

  • The website that I manage has been down for at least the last three days. I am prompted by the following message from Google Chrome:

    “This webpage is not available”

    “The server at https://www.foodandfarmskc.org can’t be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website’s name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.
    Access a cached copy of https://www.foodandfarmskc.org/”

    “Error code: ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED”

    Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

    I would check to make sure that your domain name is pointing to the correct name servers for your hosting provider.

    It looks like your domain was perhaps auto renewed recently with DreamHost. Do you host your site with them too or do you just use them for domain registration?

    Thank you for your prompt response John. I wasn’t even aware that our site had a different hosting provider than WordPress. I’m going to have to do some digging around to find out who the provider is and what the terms of our registration consist of, as I wasn’t the one who set up the site originally. How were you able to find out that our site was registered with DreamHost?

    After reviewing my predecessor’s notes it would appear that DreamHost is the host service provider. I just sent them a message to find out the status of the account and registered domain. I will follow-up if I need additional help. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
