Website down and cannot login to Control Panel

  • Hi everyone

    The website I help run, https://www.playhouse.org.uk, has been down for a few days now and I cannot log in to the control panel. Nothing at all happens when I type in the address. This happened recently to another wordpress site of mine and when I called my hosting company they said it was a fault with a plugin and fixed it for me.

    The problem here is that we had the site redesigned by a guy who is unfortuntaely currently in hospital so unable to assist. When we launched the new site, we pointed it to this guy’s server, the IP address of which I have. His instructions at the time were “Your current provider needs to change the A record of the DNS settings to 82.165.82.13” – which we did. However a whois search still lists the current provider as a company called “1&1” which is a bit confusing? I am currently trying to retrieve details of our relationship with them.

    My question is, is there anything I can do whilst I wait for him to come out of hospital? OR does this sound like a problem with his server which he will need to resolve?

    Any advice much appreciated as I am panicking a bit, but we do have back ups.

    I’m not sure. Guess the guy would need to have given that to us since wouldn’t it be connected to his server? Not sure that we have the details…
