Website Gone!!

My web designer had me delete the original user (which was set as an administrator)…

Why do this?

If your web designer has been working on the site, then maybe he/she messed something up.

Yes, my blog and home page are still there, but everything else is gone. I can login to the blog, but will that help me recover the site?

He had gone into it, but he’s not accpeting any blame and I don’t have proof that he did it, so I’m still at a loss.

Are you certain that the user you are now using is an admin level user? If not, this could be a problem. Your designer having you delete your admin level user makes no sense to me.

The remaining user is Admin. level and it’s the one I used. I never used the one he created. He told me to delete it to deny him access to my site once he was done.

Some people change the username for the admin. I have personally done this. Makes it a bit harder for someone to guess as now they need to guess the username and password.

If he has not set your alternative user as admin you wont have any access to do much in your blog.

Your dashboard admin pages are totally blank or is it that you don’t have access to some parts of it?

Is there a way to undo a deletion of an Admin.?

Under Dashboard, there are zero pages listed. Is that what you were asking?

If you have access to the full Dashboard/Admin area and you can’t see any pages listed, then it sounds like the database has been damaged. The site is currently showing multiple page/post links but no content on the pages themselves.

Have you tried switching to the default theme? There’s so much javascript in your current theme that I wouldn’t like to rule out some kind of theme issue.

Thanks, but let me give this disclaimer. I know nothing about web design, javascript, etc, that’s why I went into psychology (SMILE). What will switching to the default theme do and how would I do it?

I found “themes” and this was at the bottom: Broken Themes

Switching to the default theme would rule out any problems that are actually being created by your current theme. There’s a lot of code in your current theme that’s of a type known to sometimes create all kinds of problems within WordPress – in the back end as well as the front of the site.

The message you’re seeing implies that there’s a partial theme on your server but, in that state, it can’t be used. What you need to look for is a theme called “WordPress Default”.

On the positive side, the fact that you can access the Theme viewer means that you still have admin access.

Is the code problem you see something that my web designer needs to fix?

I’ve had someone else say this: I don’t know if you asked for this design but it definitely doesn’t utilize WordPress and blogging. Very old-fashioned design, usability for readers is very bad (especially the /blog/ part), SEO is non-existent (see for example the way your page url’s looks).
