    Ok, so I had a volunteer in my small non-profit “helping” this morning with posting some new content to the website. She noticed that there was a banner that said WordPress needed to be updated, so she said Update Now. Then she noticed a banner that said “something about updating the database”, and clicked to do it now.

    Now our website seems to be gone. I wish I had ANY more information about what sort of database needed updating or anything else. I wish I had a backup.

    I can see everything on the back end through my WordPress Dashboard, but on the front end it’s just a big blank white page. The little browser tab icon is even gone.

    I’d be grateful for any ideas, as we rely entirely on our website to communicate with the families we serve.

    The website is https://www.artscopestl.org

    FWIW, the WooCommerce Log and System Status report is:

  • If you do a show source, the page has all the data there. Just need to find out what is happening.

    Using the file manager provided by your host, rename wp-content/plugins to wp-content/plugins-old.

    Hi @artscopestl,

    I found you are using BH, I remember BH saying they have backup per day? Contact BH support and request they restore your site. ??

    Best Regards,
    Tomas

    Please try this :
    Go to your admin panel -> Settings-> Permalink -> Press save button there.

    Hope everything is just like before.
    Looking forward to hear from you.

    Thanks

    Hi @artscopestl,

    Oh, by the way, before do anything, full backup your site first, and download your full backup file to your local PC, it is important, hold a full backup file in the hand is always most important thing.

    And contact BH suppprt to restore your site. But if you have new WooCommerce order, maybe there are some problems for your customer, maybe you need check your account for ensure there are no new order. If you published new post or comment today, maybe you need add them back manually after BH restored your backup in last day, if BH tell you that they have no backup for last day, only have backup about one month before…, you need think do you need restore it yet.

    If you can not let your hosting to restore your site, you can edit wp-config.php, In wp-config.php find the code line

    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, false );

    and change it as:

    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );

    Maybe there are some problems when you try to upgrade your site, just open your site to find what is the error notice, in general there are the line number and path of the problem, if it tell you the problem is a plugin or theme, upload new plugins or themes.

    If still can not work, you can download newest version of wordpress and upload it to your site via ftp or ssh, if still cannot work, maybe you need upload your theme and plugin too.

    Anyway, hold a full backup file in the hand is always most important thing

    Just suggestions, hope your site some back soon. ??

    Best Regards,
    Tomas
