Website gone, no way to login
-
Hi. I’m not a web guy. I don’t know or understand what FTP or SQL is, what databases have to do with websites, how myPhpAdmin works…or much of anything else. I know how to login to my site and post text and pictures, maybe add a page or two, that’s it.
Here is what happened:
Friday 9/5 — posted a blog on my site, https://www.tomleveen.com. As of Saturday 9/6, the site was live and working because I got emails from “Contact” forms that day.
Sunday 9/7 — Going to my login page, I get the error message “Redirect Loop.” I followed all the clearing cache/cookies instructions, but no change. Going to my URL, I get a page insisting I need to load WordPress. I take no action on this page for fear of doing something irreparable.
Monday 9/8 — submitted a ticket to my host, Bluehost. They ask if I’ve made changes to the site, such as Plugins. I do not know what a Plugin is, nor how to change or install one, and have not made any changes except the blog post mentioned above. If there was some kind of update, it was either automatic, or a hack. (I have been hacked once before, which was “fixed” by Bluehost for $50.)
Tuesday 9/9 — host says they have a server issue to resolve on their end and can’t do anything until it’s resolved. They’ll let me know.
Wednesday 9/10 — no response from host. Going to my URL, I get what looks like a generic, unbuilt WordPress site saying “Hello World!” All in black and white. When I access (what used to be) my login page, my user name and password do not work. When I try to do a password recovery, WordPress does not recognize any email I try to use.
Can someone please help me? Thank you.
