• Hi,
My website (chefhermes.com) got hacked nearly 3weeks ago.

The site is hosted with GoDaddy, who quite frankly have bee useless, to the point where I will be moving all my business away from them.
GoDaddy sold me a product called Site Lock, which again was useless. One of the things it flagged up was the Jetpack subscribers plugin widget, FFS.

Even after being ‘cleaned’ by Site Lock & little help from GoDaddy various problem now remain.

So I’ll be looking for a decent hosting company, & a any recommendations for websecurity who can clean my site properly.

    All suggestions gratefully received.

  • For various reasons, specific hosting recommendations are not given in these forums.
    Here is my advice:
    – Look for a company that provides cPanel hosting management.
    – To some degree you get what you pay for. (Quality oats have a premium cost, whereas oats that have already been through a horse is somewhat cheaper).
    – Look for support hours (in your timezone), and what methods of support are offered. Phone ? Text chat ? Email ?
    – Spend some time googling their reputation before making a commitment.
    – Initially pay by the month.

    Cheers Ross,

Like the analogy of the oats, still doesn’t stop somebody charging premium for the ‘2nd hand’oats.
I’ve been happy with Go Daddy for a number of years, but I’m guessing that when push came to shove, they really couldn’t cut the mustard in terms of service, when it got difficult.

    Thx again
