• I upgraded to v3.8 on Mac OS X Mavericks running the latest versions of MySQL and PHP. The install was “successful” after some fits and starts. I was able to get into the dashboard to work with site content, but launching the website returns a blank page. I’m running everything on localhost. To set everything up I copied all of my original tables to backup then emptied the tables. I had to manually create the wp_commentmeta table to get the upgrade to complete. After the upgrade finished I copied the content from the backup tables into the working tables. All of the content shows up in the dashboard. Do I need to rebuild or re-publish everything?

  • Hi Kim,

My advice would be to deactivate all your plugins and test if the problem persists.

If the problem has been fixed doing this, you should check your php logs for errors, since one of your plugins could be not compatible with WordPress 3.8.

Solved the problem, after a lot of debugging and looking in all of the wrong places. I looked in the themes section and noticed that the one I was using was marked as “broken”. I switched to another theme and, presto-magic, everything started working again. I downloaded the new version of the original theme and installed it so it’s all back to the way it’s supposed to be now. Thanks for your input Tiago.
