The website is suddenly taking somewhere between 2 to 5 minutes to load and also to navigate to different pages . It was completely fine a few days back and there was no changes made since then . Any idea on how to resolve this issue? It is a simple website so i guess load is not a problem.

I cleared the cache , did the DNS propagation which was showing an issue . Right now that shows all tick or sometimes just one cross.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Deactivate all plugins first. Is it faster then? Then it was due to one of the plugins. Activate them individually to find the culprit.

However, reactivating plugins could solve the problem if one of the plugins resets a faulty cache.

You could also contact your hoster’s support team. They may also recognise something about it.

You can find more tips on optimising the speed here in the article: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/advanced-administration/performance/optimization/

The deactivating and activating of the plugin had no effect. Even doing that is taking 2-5 minutes. I will try to get in touch with the hoster’s support team. If you have any other suggestion , do let me know.

Strange. Also take a look under Tools > Site Health. Are there any anomalies there? (except probably an indication of slow response times)

Which PHP version are you using? This is also listed in Site Health.

What did you do before the site became so slow? Were there any updates for plugins or the theme?

i did not make any changes in the website , it just suddenly stopped working . Any updates made in the plugins were only after the website started behaving in this way. I even tried deactivating all the plugins but it did not help.

On the site health it shows one critical issue that:

The REST API is one way that WordPress and other applications communicate with the server.
When testing the REST API, an error was encountered:
REST API Response: (http_request_failed) cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

The REST API endpoint was also given but i removed it as it was link.

I am not using any security plugin. ssl certificate shows active in hostinger. i tried changing the php limit now .php version is 8.1.27 and cURL version 7.87.0 OpenSSL/1.1.1w.

Even if the site is slow it should take 5 extra seconds or something to load but it is taking around 5 minutes for every action even logging in to the admin side of the website or activating or deactivating a plugin or even the site test that i did in tools took 5 minutes to just open before it could start analyzing.

The curl message is worrying. There is probably a setting on the hosting that is not correct, presumably regarding the resolution of the domain from your own server. See also: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-curl-error-28-connection-timed-out-after-x-milliseconds/

Did all the things mentioned in the above link , it had no effect.

Talked with the hosting provider , they after all the similar steps gave me some code to add in my .htaccess file , but it still had no effect.

Pagespeed insights shows cannot resolve your site randomly. Really seems like some DNS or server issue.

Have you tried yet to check if the domain has DNSSEC enabled and if so disable it for testing purposes?

When we have customers moving from one web host to us we find sometimes they have that on and the customers websites act weird, dns propagates then doesn’t at times. So we have it at number 4 now of things to check in our migration task list.

So ask your web host to just double check that feature.

Otherwise maybe ask them to migrate you to a different web hosting server in their data center?

Tried and checked all the things suggested but nothing seems to work . The hosting provider too did not have any answer. With everything taking 5 minutes to respond even testing is becoming a headache.

Got the issue resolved. Apparently there was zip file somehow in the plugins folder in the public_html folder in the file manager of my hosting dashboard. Deleting that file made everything work as it should have. No idea on how that zip file with weird content got there.
