Hi, last night I was adding a post to a website that I run for a club at school, https://www.spectrum.neu.edu/, and at first everything was fine. At some point during the night, I updated to WordPress 4.5; a couple of hours later, a bunch of pages on the website either broke down or just had all their content deleted. The Home page and Blog page no longer have any posts at all (I don’t even know how to make blog posts anymore), the Submit page no longer is able to send submissions through, and the About page is missing photos and mini descriptions of members, which were all previously on the page.

I changed the theme and managed to recover the Issues page, but everything else is messed up. I’m not sure what I did wrong, because I didn’t edit the code or anything. It just changed on its own.
I believe the previous theme I was using was Spectrum, and the one that I am currently using is Olsen.

Please help, this is my first time doing any kind of website design whatsoever, and I feel so guilty for ruining the website. Any help would be appreciated!

is there a backup of database and files somewhere?

do you have access to the database (in webhosting account that is usually available in PHPMYADMIN area) to check to see if the content is really missing or just misplaced?

    which plugins are installed?

Switch to one of the Twenty themes. There are a lot of problem with themes that aren’t updates to work with WP 4.5.

I’m not sure if there is a backup of database and files anywhere, I’m also not sure where to look for those. I’m a first timer so I’m unfamiliar with how to find or get to the PHPMYADMIN area

the only plugin I have installed right now is a Tumblr Importer plugin, but that was installed after everything got messed up

if you have access to the webhosting, you can ultimately get into the area PHPMYADMIN and the file manager.

who is the webhosting company you are using? the support team at webhosting company can help you find PHPMYADMIN and the file manager areas.

what is the purpose of the tumblr importer? I would stay away from adding new plugins until you get the other issue(s) under control.

I took your advice and contacted the webhosting company, everything is resolved now! Thank you so much!
