• I was working on my website and something happened and it no longer looks the way it should look. Is there any way that someone can help me revert it to how it looked earlier this morning? Oh, I hope so. This is so stressful.

I am using the Custom Community Theme and my website is: wingswalkingwater.com

I was trying to remove the “Proudly Powered by…” tagline at the bottom of the page. I tried following the advice I found online on a forum but it wasn’t working. While I was on the CSS area of the Theme Appearance page, something happened to mess everything up.

Did you backup the file before modifying it?

If you did, restore it using FTP/ SFTP , or your web-host’s cPanel or whatever file management application your host provides (no Dashboard access required).

If not, replace it with a fresh copy

Alternately, ask your hosting provider if they a backup of your site. If they do, ask them to restore it

Replace the files which you edited with the original ones and remove the custom CSS which you added.
Hope it helps and let me know if you require any further assistance.

Thanks for your advice. I’m in line at the moment waiting to chat with someone from my host server, hoping they can revert my website to the state it was in earlier this morning. I’ll let you know how things go, once I know more.

Well, I did get my host server to revert my website to its earlier state but that didn’t help, so I ended up having to manually go in and tweak posts, pages, and settings. I finally have my website back to looking the way it did before all the mess started to happen this morning.

I still have the problem though of having the line about “…proudly powered by…” at the bottom of each page and post. I’d really like to get rid of this, so that the website looks cleaner. Nothing I’ve tried (that I’ve seen mentioned on other forum threads) seems to help.

Is there a simple way to remove this from my website?

Thanks for your patience and help.

My suggestion is always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

having the line about “…proudly powered by…”

That’s probably coming from one of the templates of your theme’s (e.g., footer.php …)

    What theme are you using?
    Downloaded from?
