• Hi

Quite new to setting up websites, and I’ve created this one for our family business.

    [ redundant link removed ]

The website loads perfectly when clicking on the link. However when following links via Google (search Toni’s Kitchen Stroud) it does not load properly.

I’ve tried looking in the forums, but am not really sure what I’m looking for exactly.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • Hi @returnofthejak,

Are you using any tool/plugin for HTTPS? It seems that the link indexed by Google is with https and a lot of resources are not loaded fine. This is causing your website to look like a truck run over it ??

    Hi Radu and Maninder

    Thanks for replying.

This is the first website I’ve built so sorry if I’m a bit slow in understanding what you’re both referring to.

If is disabled SSL would that solve the issue? Or simply create further ones.

Is the plugin suggested the best way to go, and is the backing up simply precautionary?

    Thanks

    Jack

    That’s great Maninder.

I’ll follow the steps you’ve said and let you know the results.

Just to clarify you would recommend keeping it as HTTPS then?

    Jack

    You’re welcome!

And Yes, i recommend you to keep the HTTPS

    Hi Maninder

Sorry for the delay in replying, I have been working long hours the last few days.

I did what you suggested and it seems to have made no difference.

Will the changes take sometime to take effect?

Is there anything else you can suggest?

    Thanks

    Hi

Still no luck fixing the website, is there anything else that you can suggest or am I potentially not doing what you’ve suggested correctly.

    Jack

    Hi,

If you already created a backup for your website, you can try to use a plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/really-simple-ssl/. This way, most of your resources should be loaded using HTTPS and get rid of this problem.

Hi I downloaded it and activated it but it didn’t seem to have much effect.

It came up with a message saying

This site works only in browsers with SNI support.

    Could this be an issue?

    Thanks for your help

    Jack

    Hey Jack,

I have to admit that this message is new to me even if I used this plugin a couple times before. I made a few checks and I found a topic that might be the same problem as you have https://really-simple-ssl.com/forums/topic/cannot-load-ssl-site-in-a-mobile-browser/

It seems that contacting the hosting would be a good idea. He can check the SSL settings and see what’s going on.

Also, you can post this problem here https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/really-simple-ssl/ since there might be some other users that had this problem before and can help you out. This is a tool used by more than one million users so this issue definitely appeared to somebody else before ??

    Hi Radu

I’ll have to check those sites out thank you.

Just to clarify I simply had to activate the SSL plugin you advised didn’t I, nothing else?

    Jack

    Hi Jack,

Yes, simply activating the SSL plugin should be enough. I used it again on a website a couple minutes ago and it’s still doing his job.

    Hi everyone

Using what you all said I was able to get the issue fixed, however after editing the one page of the website (uploading some new content) the website has reverted back to the original issue.

    Can anyone please advise?

Additionally the Really Simple SSL is failing due to not being able to detect a valid SSL certificate but when follow the link to check I have one present. Could this plugin not working be a cause of the issue?

    Thanks for your help

    Jack

Use cloudflare. Awsome service SSL work even in Free packeg, I’m using it on my many sites.
