website not updating.. what's up?

I’m not sure of the version of wordpress that I’m using.. it’s whatever the latest one is… anyway, here’s the trouble. I downloaded woo commerce’s storefront, and picked one of its child websites to put on it for a nicer appearance.. the one that’s in black and white with a restaurant look.. I’m a book publisher/writer/store and I figured I’d just change it a little. Anyway, no matter what I did, I couldn’t get rid of the picture of the restaurant or change any of the writing in the thing. It still looked and said it was a restaurant/cafe. My changes showed up at the bottom, without the look I wanted, and no where near where they should’ve been. I’m using a different website now.. it words great so far. I would still love to use it. What gives?
