website redirect vs move? Benefits and how to?
-
Hi there
I have been reading here for a couple of hours, and thought i better post my own topic since i have not found an answer yet and i am not too confident in my knowledge gained.I have my brand new wp i made in its own folder on my server, mainly because my old Flash site is running on the root and i didn’t want to take it down yet. I see you can move things later : https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress#Moving_Directories_On_Your_Existing_Server – doesn’t look easy to me.
Or leave it in subdirectory but might have to cleanup old references to previous URL, which seems a pain also:
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_installMy Q is- what are the benefits to moving it into the root once i delete my flash site? Rather than just pointing/redirecting my home site’s URL to the subdirectory? which seems to me much easier and less risky to do. Done via my host company i suppose, though i have also read how to do it via the .htaccess file here:

Here is my site : https://www.danahargrove.com/artistAny suggestions for me? Thanks!
