Website Replaced By Random Text!

  • Hi,

    My website has recently gone and all I can see is a page of random text characters. It is: https://www.pavingsolution.com.au. I am still quite new to WP so I have no idea what this means. I did update some plugins recently and upgraded to WP 3.5.1. Can anyone help?

    The site renders perfectly normal when I look at it after logging into WP.

    My last back up is from Jan. I would only like to use this as a last resort as the back up files seem to be a lot smaller than my current directories. I’m also not 100% sure on how to restore – I use BackWPup.

    I would rather find out how to fix the problem.

  • That looks like some sort of encoding issue. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    I’ve just deactivated W3 Total Cache and it seems to have fixed the problem! Thanks.

    The only problem now is that I guess my site isn’t cached anymore? I was using this plugin with Clud Flare. I’m concerned this may slow down the site?

    You could try looking for another caching plugin. Or check your W3 Total Cache configuration.
