Website seo and overall improvement advice or help

Hello everyone,
I am very new to using WordPress and I don’t know how to use it very well. I have tried to read through the forums before posting here but I’m afraid that I just don’t understand or how to apply most explanations that are given.

I believe that I am missing out on many of the features that WordPress has to offer. If you could take the time to look through my site and give me a layman’s breakdown of how or what I can do to make it stand out and be more search engine friendly, I would be very grateful.

I don’t have any tags posted because I don’t fully understand how it is done correctly. For instance, the explanation of what a slug is on the “post tags” page.
