• Hi,

In the last period I have a problem with few WordPress sites.

When I visit the site, I see this message https://image.ibb.co/jvdSEc/site_down.png

I’ve restored the site and it works again, but after 24 hours it happened again.

After contacted the hosting provider they’ve reinstalled wordpress on all sites, but it didn’t help.

Interesting fact is that one site is unpacked in public_html folder and it works fine, while other sites are in folders public_html/site1, public_html/site2 etc.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Tesla,

It looks like your index.php file is missing, that file is needed to load the website. You could try uploading that file through FTP from a fresh WordPress download.

I also see some suspicious files (rxg7rct3 and uwn3m567). You should check your website for security problems, because it might have been hacked. Maybe run the Wordfence plugin to see if they can find anything.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck!

    Best regards,
    Marjon

Sounds like something is eating your index.php file OR (if that file exists in the public_html folder) it’s permissions are being changed.

Suggest talking to your host to ask if they can see what is happening and when.

I will ask my hosing provider to check index.php and permissions.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Marjons,

It seems that some of my sites are hacked and tech support can’t help me.

They said: “…there is not a lot we can do to help as even restoring your files, they’re being restored as hacked and this will never end. The only way to end this is resetting your entire account like a brand new one and then you can start creating site by site from scratch in order to avoid uploading the same infected files over and over.”

Interesting fact is that one of my sites is located in public_html folder and I have no problem with it, while other sites located in public_html/site1, public_html/site2 etc goes down every day.

Is it possible to resolve this without losing the content? Some sites are old 5-6 years.

    Thanks
