    I have a website with 7000 articles (and growing). How much of an impact does this plugin have on overall performance?

    It performs a normal post query. So the impact is like searching for a post (with the parameters that you choose). If you turn on caching, the second time will be faster. Then the impact is like reading a transient from the Transient API.

    If you search for a random post, it will determine the random position by PHP, not MySQL.
