Website using Ready! is so slow it's unusable. Is this a hosting issue?

I have a store using the Ready! eCommerce theme and plugin with about 30 products and 5 categories. I’ve installed and configured the w3 Total Cache plugin(besides a CDN). The site takes roughly 5-7 seconds to load category pages, but when it comes time to add a product to the shopping cart or checkout, it can take several minutes to load. No customer in their right mind would sit there and wait for it to finish.
Is this a hosting issue? I use FatCow, which I know has a reputation for being slow with wordpress, but this is unbearable. I contacted their customer support and they told me to install w3 Total Cache, and when that only shaved off a couple seconds, they said I was experiencing normal speeds.
Is it a configuration issue? Is my only option at this point to switch hosting?
