Webstories don’t show
-
When I am in the backend of my wordpress and click on “stories” plugin, my stories do not show up . This has been happening for over a week and usually if I log out and log back in, they will show. I need them to show in order to be able to duplicate a previous story to create a new one. Please advise.

@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof Hi there! Sorry to hear of this report.
Is the dashboard completely blank or do you see any messaging? If possible, could you share a screenshot? You can use services like JumpShare to share.
If you open your browser developer tools, do you notice any browser console errors?
Lastly, if you could you please provide your Site Health information, we can check for any conflicting plugins/ themes. You can share privately if you prefer.
the entire screen is blank if I click on stories, my stories or settings. I have logged out and logged back in and sometimes they stories show and other times they do not.
There are no browser or WP errors.
@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof Thanks! There may be a conflicting plugin causing this. Please share your Site Health information privately via this form for us to have a closer look.
Does this occur when Web Stories is enabled alone and when using a default theme?
Alternatively, you can attempt to narrow down which plugin could be conflicting by using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.
– Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
– Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
– Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.- This reply was modified 3 years, 6 months ago by Luckyna San.
This is also happening to me on over 5 different sites, so it’s definitely a widespread issue and likely not a plugin conflict. All sites are using Genesis and the page just appears blank. The issue started about 2 weeks ago.
Yes, I have genesis too and my tech team just ran a site check and there are no conflicts. I’ve spent the better part of my morning attempting to fix this and it’s not working. I am also seeing other influencers posting and having the same issue. This started about 1 week ago for me. I eventually after I kept trying , got them to show last week but it was over a 5 hour period and these stories are time consuming and I am not compensated for plugin issues/plugin speed related issues so needless to say, I am frustrated with this process.
@mrosedesign Thanks a lot for sharing.

While I understand the frustration this error causes, it would be great if we could help to try and resolve any issues so you can continue to create stories again.Since you are both reporting use of the premium Genesis theme, we can start to check if there is a conflict there. Themes can do anything it wants on your site, including in the WP admin area. The Web Stories plugin itself doesn’t do anything with the theme, but that doesn’t mean that there can’t be conflicts.
If the issue still happens with all other plugins disabled and when using a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One, then we know whether there is such a conflict or not.
The easiest way to find such a conflict is by temporarily switching to a default theme, and disabling all other plugins, and then re-enabling them one by one until the error appears again. (The Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin mentioned above is the easiest and safest way to simulate this.)
Once we identify the culprit, we can look into how this conflict can be best resolved.
If you could help us get to the bottom of this, that would be awesome and greatly appreciated.
Hi, we disabled and used the default and there is still an issue. It was recommended by another blogger that I shut down my computer and reopen word press which I did and my “existing stories” appeared. While this isn’t ideal (shutting the computer) it did work this time and I was able to duplicate 3 stories in order to get mine turned in on time. The plugin seems to be messed up though and from what I can see online and talking to other bloggers, it’s an issue for other too. HOpefully you guys are able to fix it for next weeks stories ?? .
@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof I appreciate your update.
To confirm, the dashboard was still blank when Web Stories was activated by itself and when a default theme was used? Could you try this again in an incognito window if the issue comes up again?
If possible, could you share additional details that would be very useful in understanding what could be causing your blank dashboard?
– Site Health information can help us gather other information such as PHP version, check for plugins that have caused blank dashboards before, or mimic a similar setup in an attempt to reproduce the issue on our end. This form is private if you’d like to submit the info.
– Who is your hosting provider? Are you behind and Web Application Firewalls? In past reports of blank dashboards, there have been conflicts with certain hosting providers’ server environments or security features so we just want to rule any of that out.
Without more information, it’s difficult to tell from the outside what may affect your site because there may be many factors.
@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof Checking in here! Are you still experiencing these issues? If so, are you able to share the information that Luckyna requested above? This will help us troubleshoot and come up with next steps for you.
Hi, yes still experiencing the issue. I provided the info via private form over a week ago. As of right now, I have to shut off computer and / or log out multiple times from wordpress to hope and get lucky that the “my stories or stories” tab works and provides the existing stories.
Also this morning experiencing a new issue where my stories won’t publish , even though they say “published.” The links show as an error/not found and they do not show on the webstories page on my home page of blog.
@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof Hi there, it looks like the form is missing your actual Site Health information. Could you copy the data from Tools -> Site Health -> Info -> “Copy site info to clipboard”, and paste that in the private form under the Site Health info section?
Thank you!
@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof Friendly ping, we are still testing this issue but wondering if you had a chance to resubmit the Site Health form. We’d like to test a similar setup as yours to try and reproduce the issue and your Site Health form can be helpful.
@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof Hi there! Just checking in to see if you’re still having this issue, and if so, if you are able to share your Site Health information for us via this form. You can copy your Site Health data by going to Tools -> Site Health -> Info -> “Copy site info to clipboard” in your WordPress site and then copying and pasting it into the Site Health Info field on the form linked above.
We still have not been able to replicate this issue, which we need to be able to do in order to identify a root cause and ultimately a fix. Your Site Health info would be very helpful here so we can understand what WordPress version, plugins, etc. you’re using so we can try to replicate your setup and figure out where things are going wrong.
Thanks so much!
@jessicafourgenerationsoneroof We are going to mark your topic as resolved as we haven’t received a response. Please feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to experience any issues. Thank you!
