The weekly Wordfence Vulnerability Reports always start with advice to “review … this report now to ensure your site is not affected”. But, if the Wordfence plugin is installed on one’s site, won’t the regular scan pick up anything that was in the report? Or does the scan not look for those vulnerabilities?

Hi @scarne, thanks for your question.

The Weekly Vulnerability Report is provided for your information regarding work we’re doing to protect our customers, latest threats we’ve created firewall rules for, and highlighting plugin/theme versions with recently reported vulnerabilities.

The plugin does look for outdated or vulnerable plugin versions that may be highlighted in these emails, in addition to older vulnerabilities, known current “bad” IPs, and malicious files. As it’s possible your last weekly scheduled scan was a number of days ago, and some scan results can be ignored at the user’s discretion, it’s just a good reminder to run a full scan, check your plugins/themes are up-to-date, and ensure you don’t have any Critical or High priority warnings in your scan results.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
