Every time I add a text editor block to a page, a very weird tiny little div shows up.

    <div style="position: absolute; border: 2px dotted black; background: white; opacity: 0.5; z-index: 100; font-size: 0px;"></div>
    • Every time I remove it, it comes back once I exit the block.
    • I turned off every plugin except Elementor, and am still having this issue.
    • I also rolled the plugin back after updating and the problem did not go away.

@israelaz You can see it here, beneath the first two paragraphs. It looks like a tiny square of four dots: https://www.ezfacility.com/careers/

    Hi

Upon inspecting your site, I could not reproduce the issue you have describe. Please refer to this screencast ?I made to show you how it looks on my end.

May I ask has this issue has been resolved from your end as well, or is there something I am missing?

If you are still experiencing this issue, could you send us a short screencast, demonstrating this issue and how we can reproduce it on your site, this way we can have a better visual understanding and see if there is something I missed checking this from my end?

@israelaz It has not been resolved. Here’s a screen recording of the issue: https://www.ezfacility.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Screen-Recording-2023-02-20-at-10.47.35-AM.mov

In it, I indicate the square I am talking about, and then highlight and remove the code from the text box. I leave the block and re-enter, and the extra code is back. It makes the four little dots that form a tiny square that shows up below and to the left of the text box.

    Hi

The issue may come from copying the text directly from some other source. You should try to use ctrl+shift+v when copying the text this way the style will not be copied on her text.

Also here is some documentation about this issue – https://stackoverflow.com/questions/31208925/why-sometimes-nbsp-displays-as-a-square

To rule out the possibility of a plugin or theme conflict, please deactivate all your plugins (besides Elementor and Elementor Pro) and see if it helps. If it solves the issue reactivate them one by one to find the culprit. If it didn’t help, switch your theme (temporarily) to a default WP theme such as Twenty Nineteen and see if it makes any difference.

Maybe some of them is implementing some HTML or css

You’re incorrect. This happens even with a fresh text block and no copying. I also already turned off every plugin and it was still happening with only Elementor enabled. The square in your example is also not the same as my issue; that’s a character, while mine is a div with a dotted border.

I will try changing the theme, but our theme has not been altered in any way, so I’m not sure how the theme could be involved.

Okay it’s not wordpress at all. This seems to be Firefox doing this. I don’t know how or why! But I can’t replicate the issue in Safari or Chrome, and in Firefox the weird div is showing up on random pages that have nothing to do with Elementor. I’m closing this because now it looks like it was not the plugin at all.
