I’ve been trying to use Email Subscribers on a number of blogs I run. I always get a laugh out of the relatively frequent “pestering” alerts urging me to upgrade to Pro…because, frankly, the free version struggles to work at all, so why in the world would I pay money to upgrade to a pro version?

    Here are today’s problems:

    1) After installing and activating the plugin I tried to create a simple Welcome broadcast by starting with the provided Welcome template. The result was a badly-formatted email (inconsistent spacing between paragraphs) whose first paragraph, for some unknown reason, had a solid green background with curved corners. Quite pretty, in a way…except that (a) I hadn’t asked for anything like that and (b) there was no indication in the UI that the template would look like that.

    2) Since starting with an existing template gave such bizarre results I thought I’d use the start from scratch option for my second attempt. Only that simply resulted in a 404/page not found error!

Does this software actually work, at all? If so, how do I get it do at least some of the things it proudly claims it can do?

    Hi @markolbert,

Please accept our apologies for the experience you had.

We have checked this issue but couldn’t replicate it at our end.

We suspect that it may be due to a plugin or theme conflict.

Will it be possible for you to perform a conflict test on your site? You may need to temporarily disable all other plugins except the Email Subscribers plugin and switch to a default WordPress theme.

We recommend doing the troubleshooting using the Health Check plugin which disables all the plugins and switches the current theme to the default theme only for the current logged-in user when troubleshooting mode is enabled.

It does not affect other users or site visitors. You can get the Health Check plugin from here.

After enabling the troubleshooting mode in Health Check plugin, activate the Email Subscribers plugin, and check if the issue is resolved or not.

If it is resolved, then you can activate plugins one by one or switch to the current theme and check which is causing the issue.

If the issue persists with only Email Subscribers active, do let us know if this is the case. We may then need to debug it further.

Let us know what comes out. Also, let us know if you have any further queries.`

    Thank you!

Thanx, but I’ve uninstalled your product and switched to Newsletter, which meets my needs more closely and is one of the best-written plugins, with one of the best UIs, I’ve ever come across in the WordPress space.
