Maybe the WP PDF Embedder plug in. Might be WordPress. I’m new to this. I used wordpress many, many years ago but it’s been a while.

So I just made a fresh wordpress blog, self-hosted. I migrated my blogspot over, then I activated the PDF Embedder. Whole lot of variants going on here so… But maybe this is a known issue and you can help.

I began going through the posts and re-embedding them with the plugin.

Suddenly, some of the pdfs don’t display properly. But they DO display properly when I copy the link where they are stored on my server. And they always displayed properly on blogspot. The fact that they display properly on one instance and not the other leads me to believe it isn’t my servers fault.

    See here:

    https://clareking.net/?p=55. (post on my blog)

https://clareking.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/PhoneReminderService2.pdf (the direct link to content)

The same issue is happening here:

    https://clareking.net/?p=52 (blog post)

    https://clareking.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/PoorlyControlledAsthmatics.pdf (content)

Many other pdfs are just fine. I wondered if it was size. But I reduced the one incredibly small and it still does not display true. I will reduce all of them eventually for loading reasons. But I can only multitask so much.

    Can you help?

    Thanks in advance.

I got laid off recently and I’m desperate to try and get work and hoped that the fresh clean wordpress blog would help.

If there is a better way to embed pdfs I’m willing to learn. I’m sad the the free embedder nullifies any interactive links.

    Here’s an even weirder one.

    On the blog post.

    In the content folder.

    Here it is on blogspot.

I opened up the original and, indeed, there was a hidden layer in the original from a previous iteration. I have deleted that layer and will fix the post after someone has looked at this wierdness.

    Hi @clarenancy,

I’m not able to see anything on the WP site you are referring to. It looks like your DNS for the domain name hasn’t resolved yet which may be contributing to the issue you are having.

I’ve noticed that you have also sent an email to our support team so will continue following up there.

I figured this out through trial an error.

And I’m sorry. My service provider messed me up and I had to move my site to another server company, so you maybe never even saw what I was talking about.

    ANYHOW!

    Two things were wrong.

    One:
The plug in was displaying layers that were hidden in the original Illustrator document when they were saved as PDF.

Suppose I’m creating t-shirts for everyone on the team with their name using Illustrator. The design of the t-shirt is on its own layer, a new layer for every team member. Export, hide/show layer, export hide/show layer. Well, although printed or viewed on blogspot or view with preview or reader, the hidden layers remain hidden. This plug in can see them and displays those hidden layers.

    Two:
Some of the pdfs that I had made for print in Illustrator with CMYK color settings revealed themselves strangely with the pdf viewer. Never happened anywhere else that I have viewed them digitally. After I changed them to RGB they displayed appropriately.

It was tedious but I fixed all my files in illustrator and re-saved them as PDF.

Thought you might want to know in case someone else has trouble with this.
