I’m having an odd issue with my permalinks. I created pages with a standard permalink structure (pages’ url generated from page titles). Everything works fine there. However, the blog posts are being assigned a url based on a nonexistent directory, if that makes sense.

Basically, my wordpress install is being tested on my site (johnnytaylorart.com/shop-test). The path to my pages is normal (shop-test/shows, shop-test/about, etc.). The blog posts are being assigned a path that restates the root directory (shop-test/artist_statement/shop-test/artist_statement). WordPress is currently set to default to the latest blog posts for default home page.

Here is the link to the site: https://johnnytaylorart.com/shop-test/

Once you click on the blog post you can see what I mean about the wacky url. I’ve tried other templates with no luck.

Oddly, the “artist_statement” permalink that is being assigned to the blog posts seems to be random, as it wasn’t the last page I created.

  • Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I switched back to default and the problem went away. I’ll read up on permalinks again.

For the purposes of this post, though, I’ll keep the custom permalink if anyone wants to click on the link and see the issue I’m talking about.

Okay, I played with the structure some and am getting closer to a solution.

Sorry if I posted prematurely- I should heed the advice “look with your eyes, not with your mouth” and read up before I post!
