Weird staggered thumbnail/text alignment

I have a problem trying to place images next to my text. I’m using the visual editor in WordPress (I’m very new at this and don’t understand code yet), and as you can see, the text and images are staggered on the page:

When inserting the images I used the Left of Text alignment. I tried a test page with no alignment:

There’s no staggering, but it looks ugly. I’d like the text to be next to the image.

Please let me know any further info you need.
