WF Free: Can’t proceed without a license

    I usually have no problem installing the Wordfence free version. But now I have a persistent banner that says:

    Wordfence installation is incomplete

Remind Me Later | Resume Installation

    When I try to resume, I get this popup:

    You have successfully installed Wordfence 7.9.0
Register with Wordfence to secure your site with the latest threat intelligence.

Install an existing license

    And:

    You must install a license to continue using Wordfence.

    So I cannot proceed with the free version. Any idea why? Never had a problem like this before. Help appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for reaching out!

    Have you created a wordfence.com account and requested your Wordfence Free license?

    We recently made a change that requires users to sign up on wordfence.com to request Free licenses.

    Hi there,

    After taking a look into it, you do not need to create a wordfence.com account, however we do ask for your email address when installing so you are able to receive your free license.
