Hi there. I have giant image problems only with guest authors, so I’d like to use a plugin like this to restrict only people at the contributor level, leaving authors and editors free to upload larger images if they need to.

    Is something like this possible?

Also – with the changes that wordpress made to the image uploading tool, does this plugin still work? 3.5 or later?

Yes, that kind of an override would be pretty easy to pull off, but would require adding extra settings to the UI which I’m not sure I want to do at this point. An alternative might be to establish some kind of hook or filter that developers could use to set the override in their themes. I’ll definitely consider it.

And yes, the plugin is compatible with 3.5

    Hi again,

In response to popular demand, I have added the ability for an administrator to make certain user roles exempt from the size limit. This update (v1.1) is not yet officially released but you can test it out by downloading it from the SVN repo: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/wp-image-size-limit.zip

Please let me know if you encounter any issues.

    Thanks!
