• I apparently do not understand how to use this plug in. I would like a page on my site for pictures, with galleries grouped by kind and pictures inside those galleries. For example, the pictures page>trips>Appalachian Trail.

I tried doing that by uploading the pictures into the appropriate gallery, and then creating an album with like galleries, and then attaching to the pictures page. so far, so good. the problem occurs after that. when published, the galleries still show up as individual galleries, not clickable albums.

I have looked through the documentation, but i can’t find what I am doing wrong.

Max & VesaT, thanks for the help. Setting up everything like the hierarchy y’all showed did the trick. I have it working the way I thought it should except I am showing multiple galleries inside of the albums.

I can’t tell, is it working the way you want, or is there still something wrong?

Also, your permalink for the pictures page is pictures-2, you should make it just pictures.

Also, Just my opinion, but like I said earlier, every title should be capital.

there are multiple copies of each gallery in each album. Cannot tell why, and I have redone each album twice now.

Why have the titles all caps? Just for looks, or is there a more practical reason?

It just looks strange to me. Also, a general website standard is that all addresses contain only lowercase letters. If not, you get that issue like with the Blog vs blog.

About the multiple galleries. What happens if you remove the actual galleries, do the copies remain?

Nope. Once the gallery is removed from its album, all of them (copies included) are removed.
When I’m using the managing albums page, it only shows 1 copy of each gallery. But when I look at the published page there are 3 copies of each gallery.

    check my Gallery/portfolio page https://www.invitationsbydragonflydesign.com

This is the “Visual” page on WP I just use the Gallery ID numbers

    Invitations

    [nggallery id=3]

    Seating Charts

    [nggallery id=23]

Menus, Escort Cards, Table Cards (Reception items)

    [nggallery id=4]

    Wedding Programs

    [nggallery id=6]

Monograms, Favors, Tags, Labels and Envelope Addressing

    [nggallery id=7]

I guess I don’t understand what arrangement you’re looking for. The portfolio page at https://www.invitationsbydragonflydesign.com just has a standard series of galleries using the image list format. You can switch to the basic slideshow or open the shutter (lightbox) effect by clicking a thumbnail.
If you post an example site of what you want, maybe we can sort it out.

seadad, if you are wondering about how the album/album/gallery hierachy may be displayed using NGG 2’s default display settings, have a look at my NGG testsite and especially this page:
    https://bisnes-it.com/wordpress-ngg-test/?page_id=188

There are also alternative display types for albums with NGG Pro (just have a look through the menus), and I’ve tried to include here all NGG & NGG Pro bundled display types in pages and sidebars. By the way, if you wonder why my galleries display the way they do, I’ve made a specific style for displaying gallery thumbnails here using NGG’s Other Options / Styles.

Hope this helps you and prospectively others to make decisions on design options with NGG.

Just found out there seems to be a bug with NGG 2.0.30: if you select to look galleries from albums, the gallery image thumbnails will be displayed using NGG’s default formatting, not your own styles done with css in Other Options / Styles – which work ok if you just display a gallery as thumbnails.

If you use Pro Album display, the gallery will dispaly in “Pro” style which is different than NGG’s basic gallery thumbnail display.

webbrewers, Max and VesaT had the set up info i was looking for.

Vesa, that is pretty much how i set everything up. i’m using extended album view on everything to give a little detail. the only problem i am having is that when the 2nd level album is selected there are multiple copies of the galleries i put in the album. kinda odd looking, but not something that can’t be worked around

    again, thanks for your help
