what are the proper file perms for wp root files? 755?

Well, that page says that noone but me should be allowed write access. Which is already setup.

However, there’s a link in there to a comment by Podz saying that at most, file perm’s should be at 664.

So what should my wordpress files be set on? 755 or 664?

644 Unless needed otherwise (which will depend on your host, how you upload/edit files, etc.).

Actually, one more question:
Should every single file in the wordpress installation be set to 644?

For instance, even all the way down to the files in tinymce?

Or just the root files, as well as the root files in the admin/include/content folders?

Basically, you should not be extending any permissions to “others”, which means your permissions should be 750 and 640, for directories and files respectively. The exception to that rule will be your “wp-content/files” directory, which should be 770.

I’m assuming of course that the Apache webserver user (usually httpd) will be the group the directories and files belong to.
