I setup 1.5 on my site, and also installed kitten’s spaminator as well as WP Blacklist plugin.

My site’s only been live with WP for about 3 days. Everything was running fine, someone commented and i was able to comment and continue updating dbase.

Then about 3 hours ago the dbase got corrupt and here’s all my host could tell me when they attempted to repair:
    #############################
    mindinkc_blog.blacklist

error : 28 when fixing table

    error : Can’t copy datafile-header to tempfile, error 9

    ##############################

first, is the blacklist table the WP 1.5 table or the WP Blacklist plugin table ?

they couldn’t tell me what caused the corruption, but was wondering what it might be – freak error? spammer/spambot?

ug, i have to get used to remembering to make backups now after every post? hmm..

any insight and help i’d sure as heck appreciate, thanks!

    That’s a hosting mistake.

i did, the little quote up above is what they responded, they told me it was 3rd party installation error (wordpress).

i hunted around for this 28 error here, and found it’s something to do with space at my server.

funny thing, i’ve had a couple issues regarding being able to upload FTP files and other “space” issues.

the web host is ez-web-hosting.com (don’t laugh!)

i’m beginning to wonder if they are going to be reliable for much longer.

can anyone recommend a reliable host while i’m at it? i’ve already written them back demanding (heh) a better explanation so we’ll see.. but i’ve had these “space” errors before, not a lot , but enough to begin to make me has reservations about this host.

thanks podz… and thanks matt , i found his link to the external link to MYSQL 28 error…

It sounds like you could do with switching hosts ….. to ones who actually do have a clue ??

    for hosts, you can try:
    1and1.com
    jodohost.com

as for the problem, sounds like a full server, and they don’t seem to care all that much.

I’d recommend https://www.dreamhost.com I’ve had no problems with them, and they’re pretty much dedicated to WordPress. They’ve even developed their own one-click installer and are planning on enhancing it with popular WP plugin installations in the future (and, no. it’s not Fantastico).

“They’ve even developed their own one-click installer”

Yea…they asked me but I said “Guys….one click of your fingers to do the job ? C’monnnnnnnn”

    ??
