• Hello:
I updated cache OK. I got error trying to update again, a few minutes after preload completed.

Error: Your cache directory () did not exist and couldn’t be created by the web server. Check permissions.

Permissions are OK. However, there was an empty value for $cache_path in wp_cache_verify_cache_dir().

Error came from “junk” in the middle of comment at top of wp-cache-config.php.
Preload worked after I edited file.

Do you know what caused this, or how I can prevent this in future?

    Best wishes,
    Mitchell

  • @brainiac – Are you using the “Cookie Notice” plugin? That was implicated in corrupting the config file. Did you recently install any new plugins?

    Thank you for reply.

Not using “Cookie Notice” or new plugins.

Running on Ubuntu: PHP 7.0.32, Apache/2.4.18.

Only “not regular” setting: I disable WP_CRON and update from shell scripts.
But I’ve doing it the same way for several years.

    Best wishes,
    Mitchell
