Hello! I have a store with Spanish-speaking customers and I have my doubts if countries like Venezuela, Argentina or El Salvador can buy in my store thanks to this plugin that I have associated with my Stripe account.

This is the list of countries that can buy in my store. From this list, who can pay in their currency with a local card and I can receive the money at the exchange rate in euros?

Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, The Savior, Spain, USA, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela

Or in which of those countries will i not receive payment in their local currency?

I would say that I already consulted this with stripe because I saw that you include payments with “Maestro” debit cards as a form of payment and these are used in Venezuela but with local currency (Bolivares). And the conversation is a bit contradictory because at first they say it can’t be done but then they say yes ?? (I put the link to the conversation in Drive)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @simonchaconb

Your questions seems directed at Stripe’s capabilities and not the Stripe plugin. This plugin supports any currency and payment method type that your Stripe account supports.

So, as the Stripe customer rep confirmed, you can accept payments from Venezuelan customers in different currencies. Stripe won’t reject a payment just because the customer’s billing address is in Venezuala but the payment would be rejected if the currency was in Bolivar.

So you need to make sure the currency offered on your website is a currency that your Stripe account can process payments in.

    Kind Regards

    Thanks for answering

    I have two doubts:

    1. There are plugins that allow you to change currency online according to your geolocation (YITH Multi Currency Switcher for WooCommerce, WPCS – WordPress Currency Switcher Professional, WooCommerce Currency Switcher by PluginUs.NET, etc.) is there one that you recommend that works well? with your plugin?
    2. Having this type of plugins active, when exchanging currency by geolocation the customer in Venezuela will see the price of the product in Bolivares and will be able to complete the purchase in this currency, right? These plugins influence when they can pay, Or even having the product at their checkout in Bolivares, will you not be able to buy it?

    Hi @simonchaconb

    1. We have merchants using all of those plugins successfully. I hear good things about the Aelia Currency Switcher.
    2. As long as the currency value that’s sent to Stripe is a supported currency, then the payment will succeed. The Stripe plugin doesn’t care what currency your products are shown in. The Stripe plugin uses the currency associated with your WooCommerce order when creating a payment request. So you can display your products in any currency you want, just make sure when it comes time to pay, the currency associated with the order is a supported one.

    Kind Regards
