• I’ve always been wondering. I’ve been reading some articles about what people look for in blogs. What do you look for in a blog? Content? Visual appeal? Random posts? What makes you want to come back to it?

  • Personality!

Navigation, baby! If I can’t find where to go, I’m not going there!

Oh, and colors that don’t make stabbity pains in the back of your eyes ??

I guess it may somewhat be personal but I like content that interests me. The theme doesn’t make much difference as long as it’s easy to read and navigate.

Easy to read! Primary thing. If I have to strain or hunt, I’m gone.

You know, a blog is just a web page, even though people tend to treat them like they are something “different”. They still are “web pages” with fun and special features.

Web Pages that Suck and From Sucky-to-Savvy are two great sites that really look at what makes a web page suck and how to improve it. I got a lot of laughs and a lot of learning from these two sites.

design is what attracts me. the content may be what i stay for but before i usually give anyone’s blog a chance i have to not be sickened by their design. Asthetics are very important to me

Personality… not dry boring stuff… if they make fun of liberals, I am out of there. Easy to read. If the background is dark, I hit back. Immediately.

    Easy to navigate.

I don’t read blogs that don’t teach anything I feel is worth learning – I’ve always had a desire to learn from others, and if I learn nothing I don’t return to it

I would definitely have to say:

    1. Load time
    2. Readability
    3. Content
    4. RSS feed

Heavy images and more than 5 seconds to load and I’m bye bye. If I can’t read it or you developed some new theme that burns out my retinas, I’m gone. If the content is not what I like to read, I won’t be back. And, on the random chance I like the blog, no feed and I won’t be back either. But WP’ers don’t have to worry about providing feeds…

Hope this does not have an anti-blog sentiment, but it may.

I really do not read many blogs, to date there has been only one blog that I have added to my Feed reader. Jinsan hit the nail on the head, it falls into the catagory that I can learn from. It is that of software developer. Now I know there are many more with similiar content, I just have not compiled a blog roll as of yet. I will be compiling one and hopefully will have at least ten to maybe twenty that have interestig reading that is not boring.

One thing I find offensive is the need some find to use the F*** word a lot, I myself go into tourettes syndrome and use it in speech but in a blog, no!

    Personality/entertaining are added pluses.

My reason for a blog, the birth of my son, while I realize that may be boring to some, it was meant to be a personal diary of his life from birth on that someday he will appreaciate.

I guess I am drawn to nice folks, and other folks (who may be nice as well) who are pushing the boundaries in terms of what WP is capable of.
