• Your description highlights that this plugin is simple and requires no coding. Yet in the thread ‘What do you mean’ you give instructions on where to post lines of php. How can you therefore describe this plugin as ‘automatic’? It certainly did not work out of the box for me.

I then followed your instructions for adding code to functions.php and I can no longer access my website.

When I get my website back online again I am going to need a plugin that rates comments. By then please provide an accurate description of the procedure required to get your plugin to work.

I have just installed this plugin on a clean install of the twentythirteen theme, there is no content other than the defaul entries and no plugins for Like Dislike to clash with.

I’ve clicked ‘save changes’ at the bottom of your setting page (I didn’t make any changes). Your plugin doesn’t appear on the site. If I am supposed to do anything more than this please explain.

Presumably the free version of the plugin is not automatic so I’ve tried to find instructions for getting it to add a like button to the comments. I followed your instructions in the thread ‘what do you mean.’

Each comment is now replaced with the following error message:

Warning: call_user_func(my_custom_comments) [function.call-user-func]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback in /home/mashable/public_html/testing/wp-includes/comment-template.php on line 1334

Please provide precise instructions on the correct code and locations.

I have installed GD Star Rating. On the surface it is a much more complex plugin, it offers many features that I don’t need but it worked without problem.

    Hi donmcleman,

We have released the plugin next update, please update your plugin.
And let us know if you have any further issue.

    Best!

Yes, the updated version is much better and installs automatically like most other plugins.

However, it is possible for users to vote several times, as long as they wait a few minutes between votes. That should be fixed.

My problem is that the Lite version allows people to like or dislike more than once.

that is not useful. What can I do to prevent multiple entries. Do I have to upgrade to Pro?

Sharone, yes, that is a problem.

I have the Pro version, and I can tell you that if you “upgrade” to Pro, you’ll just be exchanging one problem for another. I have found their “support” to be arrogant and downright wrong. (I was told that I got error messages because the plugin was in the “wrong directory.” That was ridiculous, because if I had put it in the same directory their “support” person suggested [a directory on their server!] the plugin most certainly would not have worked.)

I’m going to try once more to see if they can correct the error that produces the error message about “an illegal offset string.”

It is still possible to vote more than once in the Pro version. You just have to wait a bit longer than in the “Lite” version.

That said, the Pro version does work, if you can stand the unremitting error message above the Dashboard. And most people will not try to vote more than once. If you can live with these shortcomings, you could try the Pro version, realizing that support will not likely be helpful.

I’d dearly love to find a different script that has the same functionality with better implementation and actual support.
