What does disabling ‘Show identifier as superscript’ do?

    Hi,
    What does disabling ‘Show identifier as superscript’ do?

    I tried turning it off but it didn’t change any functionality.

    This will be down to your theme but a superscript is a typeface that appears slightly higher than usual. If you switch this on the link to the footnote will appear a little higher than the rest of the text. But, as I say, whether this works is theme specific.
