What domain/subfolder to use with Google Sitemaps?

  • I’m using the Google Sitemap plugin and it works very well, so I added the path to the xml-file at Google Sitemaps.

    But now I’m puzzled. Looking at ‘My sites’ inside my Google account, I now have three ‘sites’ added to my account:
    spoenk-nl
    www-spoenk-nl
    www-spoenk-nl/weblog

    The root only contains an onLoad script to the /weblog directory where I installed WordPress and all my archives and images etc., so just to be sure I added the sitemap.xml to the root and to /weblog as well.

    But I’m afraid this is perhaps not working very well. What should I do? Remove the first two ‘domains’? Or should I remove the first and third and just keep https://www.spoenk.nl which includes https://www.spoenk.nl/sitemap.xml (which has all the url’s for /weblog/index.php).

    I’m making a mess of this topic ??
    Anyone, can this do more harm than good or can I leave it as it is?
