So, I am just wondering what’s being tracked:

    1. Is the click on the submit button being tracked?
    2. Is the form response being tracked?

I’m using the default options. I am trying to figure out if the submission event, only tracks the click, or if it tracks only when the submissions of the form goes through? (meaning there are no validation errors or other errors).

    For instance:
A person comes to my site and submits the form the first time, but get’s a validation error because that person didn’t fill in all fields. Does that count as a submission?

    Dan,

I apologize that I’m coming in cold because I recently took this plugin over from another dev.

    1. No
    2. Yes, to my knowledge.

I advise my SEO peeps to keep the category and action generic. For example, I use form for the category, and submission as the action.

Then in Analytics, you can set up a goal to just find the form and submission vars.

In WordPress, you can pass a label and a value. When analytics captures a goal, you can do filtering based on any labels and values.

As far as forms being tracked on failed submissions, I do not believe this is tracked.

Alright, thanks for the info… so summarizing, I should only see entries in analytics if the form submission is completed successfully, correct?

I did some testing with analytics.

I looked for all captured submissions during a specific date range and compared to the wordpress form entries. It matched 100%. So it looks like it captures only successful submissions, which is what I need now.

    Thanks!
