    Hello,
I’d like to know what files can be safely removed after a succesful WP install. I’m thinking about files that won’t be used after install (like readme.html) but also potential security or corruption problems (like the import files, update, etc.) that someone that knows the file structure could maliciously run.
Tx. for any hints on this.

I would like to know this, too.

any of the import files. The install.php, and probably the upgrade.php file as well. If you’re unsure about a file, rename it to something else, and poke around the site. If it breaks, put the file back, if not, delete it after a while.

I also noticed there’s a phpinfo.php file in the WP main directory. I prefer to remove it so it doesn’t give information on my setup.
My list of files to remove/rename/move elsewhere looks like this:
    /phpinfo.php
    /licence.txt
    /readme.html
    /wp-config-sample.php
    /wp-admin/import-*.*
    /wp-admin/install.php
    /wp-admin/install-helper.php
    /wp-admin/install-config.php
    /wp-admin/upgrade.php
    /wp-admin/upgrade-functions.php

This might be something that should be added to the wiki and saved for posterity.

I’ve added it to the 5 minutes install instructions, as a link to this page.
