    No, this is the name and email address *you* will see in *your* email client, as the form was completed by the sender ([your-name]) and sent from the contact form on the johndoe.com domain.

    If you want the sender to receive a copy of the email, then you need to set up the autoresponder in Mail >> Mail(2).

    Does it HAVE to be from “wordpress@

    This is considered best practice and should always work as WordPress core sends emails to the site admin using this address. You could also try with a noreply@ address, but this may not work on some servers.
