Thank God I happened to install your new version on a new website and discovered what you did before I updated my existing sites to the new version – which is now totally useless to me.

Why did you remove the ability to have a login on the maintenance page when it is activated?

The [loginform] shortcode was the best part of your plugin and you removed it.

Now, I have to find another maintenance plugin and replace your plugin with one that does have a login on the maintenance page.

Why is that important? Because when a site is in development, some people who are not techies need to look at the site.

I suppose that I could customize the maintenance page by adding a link to the login page, but if I have to do that every time I want to install it on a site and have to go back and do that to every site that already has it installed, I might as well find another plugin to use.

  • Hello,

We removed that shortcode because we thought is not so used. Maybe it will be reintroduced in a future release. For now you can use wpmm_footer action to add a link to dashboard. If you don’t like this solution, then you’re free to use whatever you want.

    Thanks!

PS: also thanks for that 1-star rating. Hope you’re satisfied now.

    OLDBRIT.
I cant get back into my site and was wondering what version you have on your other websites.
I am completely locked out of wp-admin with no way of gettting back into the backend of my site.

Am locked out of all my sites too but luckily I have access via infinitewp … I can’t say I’m a fan of the removal of the loginform … I used it on about 10 sites myself that I was leaving permanently in maintenance mode. I really do like the look of the new stuff though. Can you explain more about how I’d use the “wpmm_footer action” please

Ps I should report that all my sites went live when I updated too.

got mine sorted … answer was in the “can’t login thread”. I was using a hidden admin and I needed to add that to the exclude list. Then I just added a link on that page to the login page. Works great.

PS: also thanks for that 1-star rating. Hope you’re satisfied now.

Sarcasm like this is never appropriate in the these forums and is IMHO extremely unwise for plugin authors.

    Hello,

    @byronyasgur:

Ps I should report that all my sites went live when I updated too.

We know about this issue and will be solved in the next version (2.0.3). Glad you solved your problem.

@buzztone: Yeah… I was a little bit sarcastic. We appreciate feedback (thats why the requested feature was reintroduced and will be released ASAP), but we believe the rating was unfair.

RE: we believe the rating was unfair.

Unfortunately I think the 0 rating is very fair. I have now removed the latest update from all sites where I previously used this plugin and reverted to the latest version by the previous plugin author (Version 1.8.11).

Though the plugin had not been updated for some time, that version continues to work for me without problems.

I also experienced the issue where all my sites went live when the plugin was updated to 2.0.2.

I had a number of sites where I limited visibility to particular people using this plugin. To have these sites become open, without my knowledge, was a major issue for me.

Importantly this also indicates to me a serious lack of testing on this latest plugin update prior to release.
