• Hi All,
I just installed a new instance of wordpress onto a new domain. I used Quick Install from my hosting company (had used Fantastico in my prior installs.)

What I’ve noticed is that I do not have the option to set a static front page. Also there are two more options on the menu bar called Performance and Jetpack. My question is…Is this now standard for wordpress or is it a marketing issue that Quick Install uses in conjunction with wordpress.com?

I would like to be able to set a static front page. Please help in any way you can. Thanks in advance.

  • Is this a self-hosted install or a wordpress.com site? Performance and Jetpack are not part of the WordPress vanilla, self-hosted, install.

I’ve heard that hosting companies are starting to plop jetback in by default…. (godaddy is one I believe….)

Another good reason for a manual install…..

I did wonder… I’d be pretty annoyed about it if that was one of my sites. Yet one more reason to avoid 1-click installs.

Hey thank you guys for responding.
    Esmi…it is self-hosted.
Since I’m just starting to build the site I’ll re-install wordpress. This time directly from www.ads-software.com

Imagine…if a person that’s brand-new to wordpress went this route, they wouldn’t know what they’re missing.
    Thanks again.
