What happens to the orginial images after they are Smush’ed, do they get deleted?

It appears from the original images section they do, but it’s not explicit, the support documents aren’t much better either…

    Hello @hefin,

    I’m sorry for the confusion.

If “Compress original images” option is enabled in Bulk Smush, then the original images will be overwritten with their smushed copies.

If you would like Smush to backup the originals, make sure to also enable “Backup original images” option. Then you’ll be able to restore them at the bottom of the “Bulk Smush” page, in “Bulk restore” section:

or restore individual media items in Media (after switching to the list view):

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

    Best Regards,
    Dmytro

Our website developer has used Smush to compress our website images months ago, but the quality is so bad that we lost all interested customers in our products. We cannot restore the website at the point before the changes were made because many other website enhancements were done at the same time. What can we do now to restore our website product images? The developer said I need to gather all gallery images again which will be extremely time consuming. Please advise on how we can solve the issue.

We used the free version, not the pro one. How can we know if the original images have been backed up or not ? Please let us know .

Looking forward to hearing from you so we can get this solved.

    Hello @fioppy ,

Please create a new topic as per forum rules https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum-user-guide/faq/#i-have-the-same-problem-can-i-just-reply-to-someone-elses-post-with-me-too

If you have a backup, you can extract only images and replace them. But you can also try a plugin like that

    kind regards,
